Developing images: How to explore and develop abstract visual ideas.

Overview

Do you find the initial excitement of an abstract art project turns to frustration? Do you get lost when trying to push your painting plans forward? This course is for you. We discover practical approaches for developing initial visual ideas and interests into a finished painting. Experimentation, curiosity and analysis can quickly develop the humblest of starting points for image making into something rich and surprising.

Required materials

Sketchbooks, newsprint / cartridge  paper, card or cheap canvas boards. We plan to initially make quick work so nothing large or expensive as a surface.

Any art materials students are happy using. Paints, pencils, charcoal, pastels, inks. Masking tape, Pritt Stick type glue and coloured papers and scissors for collage.
