We will be observing, drawing and painting an inspiring variety of fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers over three modules, studying objects both from life and photographs. I look forward to introducing you to the wonderful world of Botanical Art.

THE ART OF BOTANICAL DRAWING 

starts Monday 9 January 7pm (evening session) / Tuesday 10 January 10am (morning session)

Materials to bring: Range of pencils (Hs and Bs), tortillons, sketchbook

Session 1: Drawing: the line, tracing, continuous line drawing, pencils

Session 2: Drawing: giving volume to an object on paper, shading. Understanding tone. Using a variety of pencils, H-B

Session 3: Drawing: relating a few objects together. Measuring. Practicing tone. Using a variety of pencils, H-B

Session 4 Drawing: creating a composition, amalgamating skills from previous weeks.

 

THE ART OF BOTANICAL DRAWING AND PAINTING. LEARNING TO USE COLOUR

starts Monday 6 February 7pm (evening session) / Tuesday 7 February 10am (morning session)

Materials to bring: Coloured pencils, Pens, inks, paintbrush, watercolours; watercolour paper

Session 1: Drawing from nature with coloured pencils, pens

Session 2: Drawing from nature with inks and water

Session 3: Mixing colour + adding watercolour

Session 4: Watercolour + inks

 

THIRD MODULE: THE ART OF BOTANICAL PAINTING

starts Monday 6 March 7pm (evening session) / Tuesday 7 March 10am (morning session)

 Materials to bring: Watercolour, acrylics, palette, brushes; watercolour paper and canvas

Session 1: Mixing the palette. Learning wet on wet technique vs impasto
